Dilworth Road West
Located in the heart of Dilworth’s historic district, this 1925 home had undergone a rear family room expansion by a previous owner. Unfortunately, the previous expansion was poorly constructed with an awkward layout. JAA’s design reworked and corrected the previously added footprint and included a modest first floor expansion that provides space for a generous kitchen and open living spaces. The kitchen is on axis with a relocated wood burning fireplace and flanking built-ins that serve as the focal point for the adjacent living and dining space while expansive windows and a Dutch door provide connectivity to the urban back yard. Reorganizing the central core of the original home to accommodate pantry, bar, powder room and laundry allows the house to function with modern amenities. Exterior detailing plays off the original architecture making the transition from original to new construction seamless.
