Lake Wylie Home

Located on the North Carolina side of Lake Wylie, this house replaced an old cottage that was situated near the water’s edge and had long range views of the lake along with many family memories. The waterside footprint of the original cottage was retained, allowing a central volume with the home’s living spaces to perch above the water and enjoy long range views of the lake. On opposite sides of the central living space, the owner’s suite and bunk wing bend and step with the topography and shoreline setbacks.  Inspired by the architecture of a lakeside camp, the simple forms break down the scale of the house and appear as a small collection of buildings.
